Progress Report

Our magazine article is coming along well, especially as we have finished our first page, and are coming up with something slighlty more creative such as a crossword/competition page to appeal to a wider range of audience [25+], as oppose to just the mainstream audience for our trailer. Our first article is primarily based on the character 'the boss', played by Endrit Nika, and so the ideas for our next article is based around something slightly different, and more of a overall focus rather than a focus on a specific character.
Our practicle production is also doing well as we have passed the 1:30 mark, and have roughly 10 more seconds to fill. One thing that we have to definatly go over is making sure that all the shots blend into each other, and don't just cut off.

Progress Report =D

At the moment I am on target for the practical production we are doing as a group, especially as we are nearly finished, and just need to go over a few aspects again, but overall, it is going well especially as we have all been coming in, and I have stuck to my plan too as I have come in to edit whenever I have free time or when it is possible.
NBS...
As we have also started our print productions, we have had a rocky start especially as as a group we havn't been organised, including myself. I have yet to write the article up in the chosen layout we decided would go well with the genre of our trailer, and also decide what image stills we are going to include.

Marketing Harry Potter Film For Pensioners../ Ms Holliday

Ways To Market Harry Potter Film For Pensioners:
Radio> Certain Stations such as Radio 4 may advertise Harry Potter films during programmes such as Women's Hour for example, where they could promote the film and possibly encourage pensioners to particpate in competitions where they recieve free tickets of some sort. This would encourage Pensioners to phone in or take part, perhaps for the grandchildren as it would interest them hugely.
Magazines> Magazines such as the T.V Mag, may advertise the new film as they know that alot of Pensioners by newspapers, and therfore may be intereseted in reading the mag which comes with it. Marketing Harry Potter films through magazines would be very beneficial and an advantage for Pensioners, as they know pensioners will read through it, and again will inform them of the release, encouraging them to watch it with family.
Newspapers> Newspapers would be a successful way of marketing the film as alot of Pensioners buy newspapers daily, and therfore tabloids especially, such as The Sun, or The Mirror, will promote the film and advertise the releasing, maybe interviews with the cast, or even background information about the film, which again will inform pensioners making them more aware and encouarges them to be involved.
Fast Food Shops> McDonalds or Burger King are famous for promoting films, so marketing the Harry Potter film through this would be a good idea as Pensioners with grandchildren for example, will have perhaps passed these shops or even been to them, so again they become aware of the toys which come with the Happy Meals for instance, making the film more popular with older people.
T.V Programmes> T.V Programmes such as GMTV would also attract a wider audience, as the majority of Pensioners do watch morning programmes such as GMTV, where they watch the news, and then films are promoted and advertised by again interviews with the cast, or even clips of the trailer. This would then encouarge older people to take their families out to watch te film etc.

Notes on Audience
Some people have seen media audiences as being easily manipulated masses of people who are persuaded to buy products through advertising, or to follow leaders through propaganda. Media texts influence the audience and influence them into behaving in different ways, for example becoming more violent. However, many critics oppose and argue the media as having a much less influence on the audience and working in more subtle ways.
Another problem which arises with the media is that the arrival of video games and portable televisions for example has the amount of children who go out to decrease. So even though people are seeing the same things through the media, they are often experiencing them alone without anyone what is good or bad about it, and so in this case, the media can negatively affect us.

History of Media...
The media has quickly become very popular and there is a hugely important difference between the new forms of entertainment and the old. In the past, forms of entertainment were only available to people who could afford them, however, nowadays, entertainment such as films and radio are available to all.

Next. Best. Step - Linking To Genre //Pulp Fiction\\

The following shots display continuous sharp cuts from the male character to the female character as they are seated opposite each other at the table. These continuous cuts emphasise on the closeness of the characters which illustrates the irony as they hardly know each other. It also relates to the genre of the film as it is a gangster film and the fact that the main characters are shown to be paired up or displayed in groups follows the gangster conventions. Furthermore, the dialogue between the 2 characters becomes increasingly short, sharp and snappier. This raises the tension in the scene as the pace of their speech quickens, however juxtaposes to the slow subtle music in the background decreasing the tension and influencing the mood which is being created. This also follows gangster film conventions as it is fairly contrapuntal rather than parallel especially at this point. More on, the close up shots as the camera cuts emphasises on the facial expressions of the characters, which are fairly calm and flowing as the characters facial expressions are similar. The effect this has on the audience again decreases the tension, which is also accompanied by the mise-en-scene and non-diagetic sound, which is evidently parallel to the narrative of this particular scene. One aspect which shows how the close up shots relate to the genre of this film is that by focusing on simialr facial expressions through a series of close ups, this decreases the tension, which again is a convention of a gangster film, as the main target is to try and build the tension up slowly creating an enigma for the audience, until finally reaching a climax. The shots when looking at the opposing character is taken as a point of view shot which encourages the audience to identify with the characters as if they are being spoken to.
